Actor Helps Tribes Trying To Buy Sacred SD Land

November 14, 2012, 3:18 PM

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Native American tribes are getting some celebrity support in their effort to raise money to buy land in South Dakota that they consider sacred.

Ezra Miller, the star of the recently released film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," and hip-hop producer Sol Guy are appearing in a short documentary-style film with Standing Rock Sioux tribal member Chase Iron Eyes as part of an effort to raise money for the land deal.

Tribes of the Great Sioux Nation must raise $9 million by the end of the month to buy the land in the Black Hills. They have raised $7 million so far.

The land the tribes call Pe' Sla is important to their creation story.
