ACLU Of SD Starts Campaign To Help People Vote
PIERRE, SD -

The American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota has started a campaign to provide people with information about how and when to vote.

Robert Doody, executive director of the organization, says the Let Me Vote Campaign will counter discrimination against American Indians and other minority groups.

Doody says the campaign is part of a national ACLU effort to make sure every eligible person can vote. The South Dakota campaign will distribute 40,000 cards about voting rights, make thousands of telephone calls, and sponsor public service announcements on radio.

Voter workshops also are being held Monday in Rapid City, Tuesday in Pine Ridge, Wednesday in Eagle Butte and Thursday in Fort Thompson.
