RAPID CITY, SD -
A Rapid City man accused of playing a role in a shooting at a basketball tournament has been sentenced on an escape charge but will not serve more prison time.
Judge Thomas Trimble ordered that 21-year-old Joel Little serve the five-year sentence at the same time as his five-year term for violating probation. Little was on probation after pleading guilty earlier this year to a charge of accessory to aggravated assault in the shooting during the Lakota Nation Invitational last December. Authorities say he went on the run after running afoul of an alcohol monitoring program.
Another man, Simon Torres, was convicted last week of attempted murder in the shooting.
