An Aberdeen woman is dead after being pinned by a car driven by an eight-year-old girl.
Police say 30-year-old Brianne Nutter was supervising her daughter as she backed out of a private driveway. She was outside of the car directing the child as the girl drove.
The girl lost control and hit a vehicle parked on the street in the 1400 block of Plum Lane in southwest Aberdeen. Police say Nutter had the driver’s door open and was pinned between that open door and the parked car.
Police say a man was at the scene and saw what happened.
“The ambulance responded and they took the victim to the hospital where they treated her, but she died from her injuries at the hospital,” Aberdeen Police Capt. Jay Tobin said.
Tobin says the department isn't issuing any citations and calls the case rare.
Tobin: We've not dealt with anything like this that I can recall.
Erich Schaffhauser: And how long have you been in law enforcement?
Tobin: Twenty-six years.
Tobin is hopeful another case like this doesn't come up either, as a family, which includes an eight-year-old girl, grieves.
"It's a very unfortunate accident, very tragic accident for the family," Tobin said. "Our sympathy goes out to them."
