Aberdeen Secures New Library Site

ABERDEEN, SD -
The Aberdeen City Council has picked the site of its new library, but it won't be built there for several years.
Council members voted 7-2 to purchase of the old Bethlehem Lutheran Church site for use as a new library.
Blackstone Development LLC is selling the site for $700,000. The Alexander Mitchell Public Library Foundation will supply $350,000 of the purchase price.
The new site is across the street from the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center and the Federal Building.
Council member Laure Swanson says the city could fetch a good price if it were to sell the site of the current Alexander Mitchell Public Library.
