City and school officials are working together to improve traffic safety around Aberdeen schools.
Police are placing speed monitors on streets leading up to schools. Those monitors track speed and traffic counts. Officers will rotate them to different buildings throughout the school year.
The district and city have also added more signs and crossing guards as needed.
“We're always working together on different things because we have a common goal which is the safety of our citizens and our students and so forth,” said Bob Pitz, operations director for the Aberdeen School District.
Police are also cracking down on parents waiting in no parking zones in front of schools, calling that a safety hazard.
