ABERDEEN, SD -
Shortly before the 10 o'clock news Sunday night, we noticed a car trapped in the snow on our Aberdeen skycam.
At 9:50 p.m., we notified police to help the couple stuck on a gravel road near Highway 281. Eventually, the husband got out of the car and tried shovelling some of the snow away. They were able to barrel through some of the snow drifts, only to find themselves stuck yet again.
The couple was nearly home. What stood in between them and their farm house were four-foot high drifts. After an hour, the couple called 911 themselves. But because the drifts were so high, police couldn't reach the couple.
The Brown County Sheriff's Department says it had to borrow a snow cat from the local fire department. Meanwhile, the husband braved the cold and walked home to get a tractor while his wife stayed behind in the car.
When the snow cat finally arrived, officials say they loaded the wife on the machine and took her home. At the end of the two hour ordeal, both husband and wife were home, safe and sound.
