ABERDEEN, SD -
An Aberdeen police officer was treated at a hospital and released after her patrol car collided with a sport utility vehicle.
Brown County Chief Deputy Tom Schmitt says Officer Sarah Vanberkum was escorting an ambulance Monday with her sirens on and lights flashing when her squad car collided with the SUV at an intersection.
The SUV driver was not injured but was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Schmitt says Vanberkum was taken to a hospital to be treated for a possible neck injury, and was later released.
