The Boys and Girls Club of the Aberdeen Area has received a $40,000 donation form one of its founders.
The donation was made by Carol Rohl, one of the people who helped establish the club in Aberdeen 42 years ago. Rohl says it's important to help kids they get started in the wrong direction.
The club is using the gift to kick off another leg of its capital campaign.
Executive director Mike Herman says funds from the campaign will go toward a new building and an endowment. The goal is to raise $5 million by the end of 2013.
Herman says the $40,000 donation is the largest in the campaign to date. He calls Rohls' gift "overwhelming."
