It’s the day the bankrupt Aberdeen beef plant goes on the auction block. The auction will be held Thursday afternoon in federal court in Sioux Falls.
The Northern Beef Packers plant filed for bankruptcy in July and is now up for auction.
So far, a Green Bay-based beef processing company has submitted the minimum $12.75 million bid for the plant. American Foods Group's bid allows it to become a qualified bidder in the auction.
A banking firm working with Northern Beef is also an automatically qualified bidder.
After years of delays, the Aberdeen beef plant opened in 2012 and this past summer it laid off nearly all its employees and filed for bankruptcy.
We'll be at the auction Thursday afternoon and let you know who bid the highest for the shut-down plant.
