A Tale Of Two Mays

May 9, 2011, 5:25 PM by Scot Mundt

A Tale Of Two Mays
Highs in the 40s and 50s aren't what you expect in May.  But that's exactly what we were dealing with this time last year, when Sioux Falls recorded its coldest start to May ever.  The average high for the first 12 days of the month was just shy of 55 degrees.

Fortunately this year, we're finally beginning to warm things up. Sioux Falls nearly reached 80 on Mother's Day.

Sunday's temperature helped bring Sioux Falls to an average high of 66 degrees so far this month.  If the forecast holds true, Sioux Falls will have an average high of 68 degrees for the first 12 days of the month, more than 10 degrees warmer than last year's record chill.

But below average temperatures will move back into KELOLAND later this week, so enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts.
