KELOLAND's wacky summer weather continues through this weekend. We started the season off very cool and temperatures usually return to more manageable marks by this time of year, with an average high temperature of 77. Unfortunately, this year the heat is on just in time for a flurry of weekend activities.
The Sidewalk Arts Festival kicks things off tomorrow morning around the Washington Pavilion and the heat starts early with temperatures in the mid 70s.
As the sun rises higher in the sky, the mercury will follow. By kick-off at the President's Bowl at Howard Wood field tomorrow afternoon, the thermometer should be reaching near 90.
By the time the steins are filled and German Fest fans are decked out in their leiderhosen at Falls Park tomorrow evening, the mercury will have dipped back to the mid-80s.
Runners rise early Sunday to lace up their flats for the Sioux Falls marathon. We'll have clear skies and comfortable temps in the 70s. But by day's end, highs climb back to the upper 80s. Summer isn't quite done with us yet, as 90s return Monday. Highs should remain above average through the first half of September.
