A Missing Money Mystery

October 12, 2012, 9:53 PM by Don Jorgensen

A Missing Money Mystery

It's a case of missing money, a lot of missing money.

The FBI and local law enforcement need your help locating a large amount of cash that was either lost or misplaced by an armored car company.

Authorities say Rochester Armored Car somehow lost five bags full of money and now needs your help finding it.

Rochester Armored Car prides itself on transporting large amounts of money with the upmost security. But two weeks ago, the company either lost or misplaced cash taken from area banks.

“Right now we have an ongoing investigation, we're looking into all possibilities of what happened to the money," Minneapolis FBI agent Greg Boosalis said.

And authorities aren’t saying just how much money is missing.

“The currency was placed in clear plastic bags and the bags contained an undisclosed amount of currency," Boosalis said.

The FBI says it believes the money was being transported in eastern South Dakota and southwest Minnesota.

But they want to warn you, that if you have found the cash or know where it's at, you need to turn it in to authorities or you could face prosecution.

“If the public finds these funds, they are asked to notify the FBI," Boosalis aid.

Rochester's web site says all shipments are fully insured against all risk while in their possession or in their vaults, but right now they just want their money back.

Rochester Armored Car has 30 offices in seven states; including South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.

If you find the money, you're asked to call the FBI's office in Sioux Falls at 605-334-6881.
