The clouds have thickened on Wednesday and the temperatures have cooled slightly, though many locations are still above average. Wednesday's highs are nothing like what we had on Tuesday.
That's when we had widespread 90s in KELOLAND, with 101 being reached in Pierre. It was only the fifth time Sioux Falls hit 90 this year.
This is quite different from last year when Sioux Falls had 38 days of 90 degree heat plus nine days of 100 degree heat. While we've missed out on the heat, at least we've received more rain this year.
While 90s have been hard to come by this year, they may be back next week. Next week is also the last week of meteorological summer. There are indications the heat won't break until the first week of September.
