30-Day Police Log Now Online

November 20, 2007, 9:53 PM by Angela Kennecke

30-Day Police Log Now Online
Wonder what that police car was doing at your neighbor’s house? You don't have to go all the way down to the police station to look at the log of police calls. The department is posting its calls for the last 30 days online.

You can access the "30-day police call log" on the city's website.

On www.siouxfalls.org, just click on the police department and the log is featured on the home page. Before you look at the actual list, you may want to print out the police codes, so you can better understand what happened during the call.

For example, JAR stands for juvenile arrest report and CR stands for case report was done for follow-up. When you click on the list, you see the calls range from accidents, to burglary to gas skips.

You can also see the call that came in from Sanford Hospital last Monday for assault, when 6-month-old Henry Johnson was taken to the hospital by his parents. His day care provider is accused of hurting him.

To easily find a particular call, you can sort the calls by date, address or type by clicking on the category at the top of the page. Or you can use the search function.

By typing in "18th," we see all the calls that came from Sanford Hospital in the last month.

Police want people to know that the information on the call is taken when it comes in. For example, it may say gunshot fired, but when they arrived, police may have discovered it was fireworks being set off.
