211 Help!Line Celebrates 10th Anniversary
February 10, 2011, 6:30 PM
A telephone service that helps people in need is reaching a milestone.
The 211 Help!Line is celebrating its tenth anniversary of connecting callers to important services and agencies that offer assistance, everything from child care to addiction recovery. 211 has fielded 375,000 calls over the past decade.
“We had a vision for 211 when we started it ten years ago to be a number that people could easily remember when they needed help or when they wanted to give help and we have met that expectation,” Executive Director Janet Lalley.
The Help!Line is available in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, but hopes to expand statewide over the next 10 years.
You're invited to celebrate National 211 Day by picking up free coffee and donuts tomorrow morning at the South Dakota Furniture Mart on 41st Street and USA Furniture Outlet on 60th Street.
The free breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 am. You're asked to make a donation of $2.11.
