2012 Girls State Tennis Tournament
RAPID CITY, SD -

The 45th Annual Girls’ State Tennis Tournament will be held in Rapid City, October 4-5-6. Twenty teams totaling 130 individuals have entered the tournament. Champions will be determined in six singles flights and three doubles flights over the course of the three days.

Past champions participating in the tournament are as follows:

2011 Flight 1 Singles Champion Morgan Brower, sophomore from Sioux Falls O’Gorman will return to defend her title. Morgan and her doubles partner, Jenna Czarnicki, junior, will also defend their 2011 Flight 1 Doubles Championship.

Taylor Messinger, senior from Rapid City Stevens will return to defend her title in Flight 2 Singles. Junior Kasey Shogren, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, 2011 Flight 3 Singles Champion is moving to Flight 2 Singles also.

A new champion will be crowned in Flight 4 Singles since 2011 Champion Lexie Hammerquist of Rapid City Stevens graduated. 2011 Flight 5 Singles Champion Erica Carrels, sophomore, Aberdeen Roncalli has moved to Flight 4 Singles for 2012.

The 2011 Flight 6 Singles Champion, Sidney Brower, 8th grade, Sioux Falls O’Gorman, will compete this year in Flight 3 Singles.

The tournament will be played at Sioux Park and Parkview courts. Play starts at 9:00 a.m. each day at Sioux Park and on Thursday at Parkview. Play will start at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday at Parkview. Singles consolation and championship finals are scheduled for Saturday at Sioux Park, followed by the doubles consolation and championship finals.
