Authorities say an 18-year-old man was killed in a crash Sunday night near the Brandon Corner.
It happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday across from the Red Rock Bar in Rowena, South Dakota, at the intersection of Highway 42 and 281st Street. That's about six miles east of Sioux Falls.
State officials say 18-year-old Meg Raj Gajmer, of Sioux Falls, was driving east on the highway when his vehicle crossed the center line and was hit by an oncoming pick up. Gajmer died from his injuries. Authorities say he was wearing his seatbelt.
The driver of the pick up, 26-year-old Michael Charles Fedt, received serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt. A passenger in that vehicle also received minor injuries from the crash.
Traffic was diverted around the intersection for about four hours so officials could investigate. Authorities say the South Dakota Highway Patrol is still looking for a cause.
