Vermillion To Get Fed Help After Gateway Layoffs

Some federal help is on its way to Vermillion to help the community deal with last Spring's Gateway layoffs.
Hundreds of Gateway workers lost their jobs earlier this year at three KELOLAND locations. Now, Vermillion is getting a $24,000 federal grant. The money will help evaluate the town's economic opportunities and develop a plan for future business growth and job creation.

Authorities said a 16-year-old student fired a gun at the school Wednesday morning. Law enforcement said the injury was a flesh wound.

Authorities did not identify the victim, but described him as a 16 year old from Minnehaha County.

The teenager found dead on Interstate 90 has been identified as an O'Gorman High School student.
