PIERRE, SD -
An 11-year-old Blunt boy has been recognized for saving his cousin from drowning.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard sent a letter to Jack Mercer calling him a hero. The letter was read in school last Friday as Jack and his twin brother Sam were honored.
The boys were on a family camping and fishing trip over the Labor Day weekend when their 3-year-old cousin fell off a dock and into Lake Louise. Jack dove into the water and rescued the boy, while Sam rode off on his bike to get help.
