Iowa Governor Chet Culver says he's disappointed with high salaries at a state-run flood-recovery agency and plans to scale back officials' pay.

In response to complaints from lawmakers about high salaries at the Rebuild Iowa Office, Culver says he's going to review a revised budget for the agency he says will include lower pay.  Members of the Legislature have complained that too much money is being spent on flood control, and not enough is being spent on flood relief.

Trimming the salaries at the Rebuild Iowa Office will be one of the first duties of the agency's new leader, former Iowa National Guard Adjutant Ron Dardis.

Culver says he stands by the overall progress of flood relief in the state, noting that the agency brought in $1.5 billion in disaster assistance.
