The Secretary of State's office has granted the city of Minneapolis an extension in wrapping up its Senate race recount in order to locate about 130 ballots that are missing from one city precinct.
The missing ballots were discovered after it was determined that the there were fewer recounted ballots than the number of people who had voted on election day in one precinct near the University of Minnesota. City elections director Cindy Reichert says officials believe the ballots are in an envelope marked "1/5." She says workers are
looking everywhere for the envelope and she believes it will be found.
The campaign of Democrat Al Franken says the missing votes could swing the extremely close election one way or the other. Norm Coleman's campaign says Franken's team is overreacting.
