Alltel Wireless has expanded to improve service in South Dakota with the recent activation of seven new digital cell sites in the months of April and May, including four new towers requested by the South Dakota Public Service Commission.
A new digital site in Hot Springs covers a high-traffic recreation area around Angostura Lake. Alltel also recently activated digital sites in Draper, Pierre, Henry, Florence, Herreid and Lower Brule that will improve wireless coverage and call quality in and around those communities.
Earlier this year, Alltel activated four new cell sites, including a digital site requested by the South Dakota PUC near Fort Thompson to improve coverage on the Crow Creek and Lower Brule Indian Reservations. Altogether, Alltel's network operations team plans to activate at least 25 new digital sites in both rural communities and larger cities across South Dakota in 2008.
Alltel is owner and operator of the nation’s largest wireless network and has more than 13 million wireless customers.
