Xcel Asks PUC To Approve Rate Increase

Sioux Falls, SD

Xcel Energy is taking steps to raise rates in South Dakota.

The company has submitted a request to the Public Utilities Commission to increase rates by eight percent.  Xcel says it would cost a typical homeowner $8.50 a month or a little more than $100 a year.

The additional money would pay for new equipment and operating expenses.
