The city is hosting a "rail breaking" ceremony for the downtown railyard redevelopment project Wednesday, November 8.
The ceremony will celebrate the city taking full possession of the property.
Crews will also start removing rail tracks.
During November, all but two crossings will be removed from Sixth Street and three crossings from Eighth Street.
The railyard occupies a ten-acre area of Sioux Falls that is a prime location for economic development.
