Volunteers Needed For Emergency Exercise At Rapid City Airport

rapid city, sd

Rapid City Regional Airport needs volunteers for a training exercise.

As many as 50 people are needed to portray victims and loved ones of victims in a simulated airport emergency.  Firefighters, emergency medical personnel, airport staff, law enforcement, emergency management, airline officials, Rapid City Regional Hospital, the American Red Cross and others will all be participating in the staged incident.

The exercise is scheduled to happen on Saturday, June 21.  It will start at 6 a.m. and be finished by 1 p.m.  If the weather is bad on June 21, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, June 28.

If you would like to participate, please contact Gary English, Airport Operations and Security Officer at 605-391-9515.

Rapid City Regional Airport is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to operate as a public-use airport with scheduled passenger service. To maintain this certification, the FAA requires the airport conduct a full scale emergency exercise every three years.
