It's no secret that downtown Sioux Falls is getting new life.
While most of the storefronts along Phillips Avenue are full, one nearby building has remained vacant for a couple of years.
This month many of you voiced your opinion on what you'd like to see in the old Ming Wah location.
As part of Sioux Falls Design Week, people wrote down their ideas on a chalkboard.
The top three suggestions were a Thai food restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a Whole Foods Market.
So could any of these really be a possibility?
On a beautiful fall day downtown Sioux Falls is springing with life. You'll find many people sipping coffee and shopping at boutiques.
"Boutiques? Is that like where you get your hair done?" Spencer Aalsburg asked.
You can guess that Aalsburg doesn't mind if there's another boutique downtown, but he would like to see a bookstore.
"I do a lot of reading," Aalsburg said.
Bookstores made the chalkboard list, along with a metal bar and a concert venue.
"Is it something that the landlord or listing broker would use? Potentially if we saw something on there that I hadn't thought about,'" Scott Blount with Lloyd Companies said.
Blount says he is getting a lot of calls about the 3,520 square foot building.
"Many people contact me because they think it still has elements of the restaurant in there, but it's completely gutted right down to the bare walls in the inside," Blount said.
Blount says they're looking for a business that will renovate it to the next level and be a good mix for the downtown area.
"It's kind of an iconic space because Ming Wah was in there for 50 years," Blount said.
Now many people are voicing their opinions on what could spend the next 50 years here.
"To get another reason to come downtown would be a good thing," Aalsburg said.
Blount says they've had offers from people to buy the building, but the owner doesn't want to sell it.
