It's ticket time for the Summit League Basketball Championships. Last year, 1,700 all-session passes went during the first hour they were up for sale. This year will be the tournament's first at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
After six years of success in the Sioux Falls Arena, the Summit League Basketball Championships are heading into a new era. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday morning at 10 a.m. but two presales are taking place beforehand.
"So anyone who purchased through Ticketmaster.com for previous Summit League Championships, they'll have the option to purchase those tickets tomorrow starting at 10 a.m." Sioux Falls Sports Authority Executive Director Wes Hall said.
Fans can buy up to eight tickets and prices start at $115 for all-session passes.
With new sightlines and more seat options, the fan experience this year will be taken to a new level.
"The guest experience will significantly increase by moving the tournament to the PREMIER Center. Many more points of sale, better sightlines and a great video package will accompany the excellent tournament," Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Assistant GM Chris Semrau said.
Because of the additional options for ticket buyers, people with questions are urged to call the Sioux Falls Sports Authority or the Arena box office. Staff will be on hand Friday morning to help talk fans through their purchase.
"There's a nervous excitement. New building, new system, everything is new to everybody even to how do you handle phone calls in the new building. We're excited but we just want to get through these first three days, see how this goes, and then start planning for the future. Start walking through the building and seeing what basketball potentially will look like in there," Hall said.
Roughly 7,500 hundred tickets from the suite level down will be made available right away. If demand calls for it, tickets in the upper bowl will be sold as well.
A presale for those who purchased baseball championships tickets online got underway Wednesday at 10 a.m. for about 150 people.
