SF Neighborhood Concerned About Access Roads

Sioux Falls, SD

A development plan in front of the Sioux Falls City Council could bring 14 new homes just north of the area called Canterbury Heights.

People in the area welcome the addition, but say city planners aren't finished developing the neighborhood that already exists.

With plans for this new addition comes a concern from this developing neighborhood. With only one road in and out, safety is becoming a major concern.

Paddington Trail is that one road. Neighbors along the street tell us that road construction just outside the development over the summer nearly trapped them in. An additional road was started to the east, but it remains incomplete.

A city ordinance requires two access roads if a neighborhood reaches more than 30 homes. The new development without a new road breaks that rule.

However, for some in the area, access roads aren't a pressing concern.

Now that news of additional homes is reaching the council, neighbors are taking a closer look at what needs to be finished before more homes come in.
