See Inside Businesses On Google Maps

Sioux Falls, SD

You've no doubt used Google maps to find your way around. You've probably seen street and satellite views on the maps. Now you can use Google Maps to see inside a business before you ever go.

The Internet marketing firm Click Rain in downtown Sioux Falls looks a little empty today, because the office is being photographed for Google.

"We see lots of small businesses when we're around the city; they've got fantastic interiors, but people just drive past, they don't see it. So why not show it off," Andrew Garlick of Nathan Maas Media said.

Show it off for everyone to see on Google Maps. Most people are familiar with Google's Street View, now Google is taking people inside with Business View.

"It's like the modern yellow pages if you'd like. It's fantastic really to show someone inside your business from wherever they are in the whole world," Garlick said.

Nathan Maas is one of two certified Google photographers in Sioux Falls.

"It's basically a walk-through tour of a business, you can click, and basically you can spin it around. There are arrows you can click and it will walk through wherever the arrows will let you, Maas said.

"I think this is the natural evolution in virtual tours, in giving consumers the ability to check out a business before they darken the door," Paul Ten Haken Owner of Click Rain said.

While it's easy to see how business view mapping could boost business for things like hotels and restaurants, Ten Haken also says it can be a great advantage for business-to-business relationships.

"Our brand is as much about our office and our environment and our culture as it is about our work--allowing people to see who we are as a company, what the space looks like--it give a good idea of our culture," Ten Haken said.

The photography fee for businesses runs between $500 and $1,000 and they can also embed the virtual tour on their own website.
