A company that makes high-tech plastic parts is conserving leaving Arlington because the mayor and city council have blocked its expansion plans.
Global Polymer Industries wants to expand and build an addition that would house more machines and workers. But the mayor and city council have denied the company's request to rezone property it bought a year ago from residential to industrial use.
The company's owners, Todd Huntimer and Dan Palli, say they are seriously considering moving the company to another city, possibly Brookings or Madison.
The dispute has caused a former president of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce to announce she will begin circulating petitions for the recall of Mayor Amiel Redfish.
Officials say the city council may reconsider the zoning issue.
