A new pet resort opening on Cliff Avenue near 85th Street is pampering your pet for a greater purpose. The state-of-the-art pet resort may seem like the perfect place to board and groom your pet, but owner Jeanine Hoff-Lubben has bigger plans.
Hoff-Lubben traded in her life as a stay at home mom to open Paws Pet Resort.
"I just knew it wasn't that calling. And so now, this is it. This is the calling, this is what that nudging was all about," Hoff-Lubben said.
Pets have always been her passion, but there's more behind her business than grooming and boarding.
"I just thought, I could do this. I could go back to work if it was to support something bigger. And so I just started praying about what that would look like and the planning really took off from there," Hoff-Lubben said.
She is serving owners and dogs for a cause.
Partners Worldwide, Mission Haiti as well as two local rotating charities will receive $5 of every boarding stay.
One charity benefiting is B-Squad Dog Rescue.
"We are ordinary people, we aren't anything special we are just ordinary people doing the best that we can," director Mandi Haase said.
Haase and her volunteers have no permanent location, they're a traveling rescue saving pups on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations.
"And we literally transport thousands of dogs each year and our volunteers drive hundreds and hundreds of miles to make that happen," Haase said.
A portion of the funds raised here at Paws Pet Resort, will be used to help puppies like Latte while they're waiting for their forever homes.
While this is a dream for Hoff-Lubben, her mind is on making a difference.
"I hope that people can see business is about more than just making money. It's about making a bigger impact in our community and in the world in general," said Hoff-Lubben.
The ribbon cutting for Paws Pet Resort is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. In addition to B-Squad, funds raised this quarter will also benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
