A new national report says food stamp usage has reached its crest and is beginning to decline. According to the latest statistics from the state, South Dakota is experiencing a similar trend.
Looking at the most recent totals for May 2014 and comparing that to the same month in the previous two years, the numbers appear to have peaked in 2013 and are now starting to drop.
Coincidentally, the average amount of assistance per household has dropped $26 in that same time.
