Because of what Nintendo called "incredible demand," they will be shipping more of its SNES Classic Edition to store shelves later this month and through 2018. The company said Tuesday it will have more SNES Classic systems available than all of the NES Classic Edition systems it sold in 2016.
Last year, the NES Classic system quickly sold out during the holiday shopping rush. Many systems ended up on eBay and are still selling for twice the original $79.99 price. Nintendo is planning to re-release the system next summer after it stopped shipping NES Classic systems shortly after Christmas.
Both systems are miniaturized versions of the original consoles that launched back in the 1980s and 1990s and come bundled with two controllers and preloaded games.
The SNES Classic will be available starting on Friday, Sept. 29.
