Sioux Falls, SD
Over the next few years, several new facilities around Sioux Falls are poised to make a positive impact on the town.
"We're getting the facilities we've needed for years," executive director of the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau Teri Schmidt said.
From the events center to the Sanford Sports Complex to the potential new ice rinks, Sioux Falls will sport a different look in the next few years.
"Things that we've wanted for a long time that a lot of people dreamed about: having an ice complex, having indoor swimming, having a new events center and all coming to fruition now; it's an exciting time for Sioux Falls," Dana Dykhouse of Forward Sioux Falls said.
Dykhouse is a co-chair of the Forward Sioux Falls campaign, an initiative to help grow the city. And he's glad the area is putting the pieces of a bigger city together.
"Sioux Falls, in a way, is catching up," Dykhouse said. "But I think as we always do in Sioux Falls, we're going to do it right and we're going to do it in a way that benefits all people in this community."
"Sioux Falls is growing and prospering in so many ways, and this is yet another way Sioux Falls becomes a great city," Schmidt said.
Schmidt believes the new buildings will not only increase tourism, but improve life for those living here already.
"Whether we're bringing people in to work or live in Sioux Falls or those of us living here, Sioux Falls is all about family and these facilities are all about family," Schmidt said.
"The quality of our school system, the quality of the recreational activities they have, it's all a part of selling Sioux Falls," Dykhouse said. "It's a quality of life I don't think you can find in very many places."
And now, thanks to some new places, the quantity has increased the quality.
Dykhouse says the new buildings will also add hundreds of jobs and keep kids more invested in local activities.
