The market for million dollar homes is up in Sioux Falls.
While most of us won't live in a mansion anytime soon, you can check one out in this weekend's Parade of Homes.
"One of the hottest things going right now is the white, painted woodwork and the gray tones," Kevin Zomermaand said.
Zomermaand is the builder of one of the million dollar homes on this weekend's Parade. From the beadboard ceiling in the living room to the shiplap on a wall, there's a lot of white, but you'll notice a little bit of contrast in the master bedroom.
"We're starting to work a few more of the browns back in. The browns and tans are really getting popular again," Zomermaand said.
Zomermaand says his favorite room in the six bed/six bath house is the garage. It's 2,500 square feet and has plenty of windows.
"It's nice to get in that natural light," Zomermaand said.
Under one of the garages is a theatre room, complete with a 140 inch screen.
"Some people love them. Some people don't. We've got winter it seems nine months out of the year here, so you have to entertain yourself somehow," Zomermaand said.
While many of us can't afford a house like this, event organizers say you can find ideas to spruce up your own home.
"This house is a true sign of what the trends are. A lot of the things in this house are very classic," Parade of Homes Chair Jordan Hefner said.
A classic look that this builder hopes will soon be a home for someone else.
"There's not a lot of new houses out there over the $600,000 or $700,000 range. If people don't want to build their own custom home, you can walk right in, and turn the key," Zomermaand said.
The Parade of Homes is Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
All of the homes are free, except for the Feature Homes, which cost $5 to tour.
