Sioux City, IA
An internationally known entertainment chain is rocking out in Sioux City Friday. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is holding its grand opening for its first location in the region.
There's plenty of chaos as workers rush to put the finishing touches on the newest Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Sioux City.
The $128 million property holds six bars and restaurants, 825 slot machines, two concert venues, and even an on-location radio booth.
As general manager, Todd Moyer says the hotel and casino creates 500 jobs and boosts the local economy.
Along with building the brand new casino, developers renovated an old historic building in downtown Sioux City built back in the early 1900s.
"This is our hotel lobby that is in the old historic Battery Building. It's quite tall as you can see," Lueders said.
The boutique-style hotel boasts more than 50 loft-style rooms that keep the rock-and-roll theme. And it wouldn't be Hard Rock without the celebrity memorabilia at every turn.
"We have unbelievable Johnny Cash, we have Elvis, The Ramones, James Brown. It's just so much fun," Moyer said.
Outside of Sioux City, the nearest Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is in Chicago.
