The former CNA Western Surety Building on Phillips Avenue, now called "The Plaza," has a new tenant. Frontier Bank, headquartered in Rock Rapids, IA, will open a branch on the first floor. Frontier says the 4,700-square-foot branch will have a contemporary and modern design and include a full service coffee shop offering a non-traditional way to bank.
“We came up with this idea of a joint lobby space, shared by the bank and a coffee shop to increase foot traffic for both companies,” Rick Anderson, Community Bank President of the Sioux Falls office, said. "This joint space will create an atmosphere where people can have a cup of coffee, relax, work on projects, complete their banking transactions and form strong relationships with their banker."
Frontier says other cutting-edge banking features will include self-service banking stations, interactive ATMs, and public wireless Internet.
“Approximately two years ago my wife and I sold our house on the south side of Sioux Falls and moved downtown." Anderson, who also lives in the downtown community said. "With over 25 years of banking experience, I feel it's important in banking to know, like, and trust your bank and banker. The downtown atmosphere will give us the opportunity to establish these relationships and become part of the downtown community."
Frontier expects to open the branch in the fall. The Sioux Falls technology company, DocuTAP, is moving into floors two through five of the building.
