Daugaard Introduces South Dakota WINS

pierre, sd

Governor Dennis Daugaard's State of the State address on Tuesday mainly focused on economic development initiatives in the state.

Daugaard announced a new initiative called South Dakota WINS. It's aimed to train South Dakota workers through the state's tech schools so they can fill vacant high-tech jobs in the state.

He also wants to recruit 1,000 workers and their families to fill vacant jobs in South Dakota.

"The impact of 1,000 new welders, engineers, and machinists and accountants on our state's economy will be enormous," Daugaard said.

Daugaard says those workers will have a $120 million impact on the state.
