Daktronics Signs Hacked In North Carolina

Sioux Falls, SD

An East Coast hacker has Brookings-based Daktronics making unwanted headlines.

Someone who goes by the name "sun hacker" changed a handful of highway signs in North Carolina last week.  The signs in question were all made by Daktronics.

The hacked highway signs triggered the Department of Homeland Security to send out an alert.  On Thursday Daktronics responded with a statement and advice for customers. It turns out the signs' owners never changed a default password, making it easier for a hacker to get access.
