A New Events Venue Is Coming To KELOLAND

Sioux Falls, SD

There will soon be a new home for live shows in Sioux Falls.  A new facility is being built on the campus of the Empire Mall, and it's expected to bring in some big names to the area.

A new events venue coming to Sioux Falls could bring entertainment of all kinds and local jobs.  The men behind the unnamed project run local entertainment marketing firm, Pepper Entertainment.  They're looking forward to hosting some live events and concerts; they are also designing the space for other uses.

"If somebody wanted up to 500 people sitting down for a dinner or appetizers or anything, it would sit up to 500 people in a round table setting. For weddings or corporate events," David Andrea with Pepper Entertainment said.

The new venue will hold up to 1,500 people for live shows. Andrea says they haven't set up any specific acts yet, but hope to host a variety of shows.

"There's a number of acts that we do obviously every year, but we'll be doing between rock and country and jazz, all types of active rock. Any type of concert that may be out there. We may look at theatre as well or comedy on a larger venue size," Andrea said.

Not only does this new hot spot plan to host a few big name entertainers, but it will also house a separate lounge and restaurant for people to unwind.

"We're hoping the restaurant and bar would consist of more of a brew house concept.  So it would be a full mid-level, upscale restaurant to a brew house setting when it comes to the bar and the lounge area," Andrea said.

Although they do hope to host some big name entertainers, they do not intend to compete with the new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

"Most of the shows we would do in our venue would not happen in the new events center," Andrea said.

Andrea says they hope to start breaking ground by the end of this year and be open by September of 2013.  The new facility should create more than 100 new jobs, as well as bring more business to local hotels.
