Sioux Falls, SD
From a small shop on Phillips Avenue to a much bigger facility just down the road on 6th Street, this 6,800-square-foot store full of fine wine, cheeses and more is ready for business.
"Super excited. We are so happy to be in this building and have it all renovated. It's been a tremendous trip. We closed 'The Market on Phillips' twelve days ago," Lather said.
The new store will be known just as The Market. Managing partner Laurel Lather is also a trained chef and is getting back to what she loves after giving it up for five years of retail.
With the move, The Market now offers expanded services including dining options for lunch and dinner.
"We've expanded that into beautiful charcuterie trays. We have sandwiches. We smoke our own pork here. We have a pulled pork sandwich that's to die for, it's wonderful," Lather said.
You can eat inside or enjoy one of 365 different wines outside on the patio just off the bike path next to a massive, centuries-old wine barrel from Turkey. The Market also features a cellar that can host parties for up to 50 people.
"We have handmade tables that were made by Tom Stritecky that are a labor of love. They are absolutely gorgeous. They are made out of barnwood and old materials from this very building," Lather said.
A lot of thought has gone into the move, and Lather is hoping that shows when customers check out the new facility.
The Market is open noon to 9 p.m Monday through Saturday, and is located at Harvester Building, 196 E 6th Street.
