Weather Forecast For Solar Eclipse

The upcoming solar eclipse is going to be a memorable experience.  You've heard many parts to this story, but perhaps one of the most important will be the weather forecast.

A cloudy sky will not be friendly to wishing to partake, especially if you're planning travel to Nebraska or any other spot along the path of totality, where the eclipse will be in full view on August 21.

So while it's very early to look at the cloud forecast, just for fun, I wanted to show you the 10 day European model.  The first few days of the outlook are quite cloudy here, which goes hand-in-hand with our rain forecast.  We do think warmer weather will start building to our southwest as we end the week, which becomes most obvious on this map by Saturday.

Hotter weather would limit rain chances and therefore less clouds However, the fast-moving winds of the jet stream in the Pacific Northwest could still impact us.  That's why these clouds show up on the 10 day forecast in KELOLAND.

Overall, if we had a big trough in the Rockies, I would be more concerned.  So for now, keep watching the forecast as we draw closer to the event and check out our solar eclipse resource on our website.
