Storm Center Update Saturday AM - August 12

We’ll watch for scattered rain through the weekend as weak pieces of energy are expected to move through KELOLAND.  Eastern KELOLAND’s afternoon temperatures will remain below average throughout the weekend with highs mainly in the low to middle 70s.  Some areas will be stuck in the 60s in eastern KELOLAND; that is, if clouds remain thick and periods of rain continue through much of the day. Central and western KELOLAND will be a touch warmer as they reach the upper 70s to low 80s, with still rain chances throughout the day.

I would have to say the best chance for rain in eastern KELOLAND will be Saturday night into Sunday.

For those that get rain, rain amounts will average around a half inch, but there will be some areas over an inch.  It all depends on where the heavier bands of rain and thunderstorms set up.  There’s also a chance for severe weather in western South Dakota later today.  Gusty winds and hail will be the main threats.

We’ll carry rain chances through Saturday night and into Sunday. Sunday’s afternoon highs will reach the 70s although, western South Dakota could reach near 80 if the clouds clear out quick enough.

Temperatures will slowly warm closer to average next week; which means highs returning to the 80s in many locations.  The next chance for rain after this weekend will be midweek of next week.
