Skies are clear across most of KELOLAND. Temperatures have been much above normal, in the 80s and 90s in the sunshine. The exception was western South Dakota.

South Dakota weather temperatures

At 2 p.m., the temperature in Philip was 102… but it was only 75 in Rapid City where heavy rain was falling. A flood advisory was posted for Rapid City and central Pennington County.

Skies will remain clear across all but western South Dakota this evening. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s, with some showers possible in central and northern KELOLAND after midnight, though the amounts should be light.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and warm again, thanks to a light south or southeasterly breeze. It will be about ten degrees warmer than normal, with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Some late day thunderstorms will be possible again in western South Dakota.

Wednesday South Dakota weather forecast

A more organized series of thunderstorms will begin crossing the area on Thursday. Sioux Falls will be ahead of the front, so we’re going partly cloudy and 87 with a south wind. Thunderstorms will be possible in northern and western South Dakota, especially late in the day. Temperatures will remain warm despite the rain, in the 80s – above normal for this time of year.
Thursday South Dakota weather forecast temperatures

Friday and Saturday are looking rainy, with lots of clouds as well. It doesn’t look like massive amounts of rain – although amounts could approach a three day total around an inch in northeast, north central, and western South Dakota. Cooler air will also be coming in. Along with clouds and rain on Saturday, high temperatures will only be in the 60s… and some places may actually struggle to get out of the 50s to reach the low 60s.

Sunday looks like a nicer day, with the front moving away to the east. Sioux Falls should have a partly cloudy day, with a Sunday high of 65. It will only be a little warmer in central and western South Dakota, where temperatures will be in the upper 60s to around 70.

Temperatures should continue to recover Monday and Tuesday, which are looking mostly sunny. Temperature should return to the 70s, which is where they should be this time of year.
