Stubborn clouds continue to linger over much of KELOLAND, especially in the northeast quarter of South Dakota where morning fog continues to hold on. Winds are generally under 15 mph. Despite the clouds/fog, temperatures have been much above normal for this time of year, in the 40s under the persistent fog and in the 50s to low 50s in southern and western KELOLAND.
Tonight skies will be partly cloudy in eastern KELOLAND, and clear in the west. As our breeze turns northwesterly it should clear out the fog. Overnight lows will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny as a northwest breeze brings in drier air. But it will also be cooler, with highs I the mid 30s to low 40s in eastern KELOLAND, and the upper 40s to around 50 in the west.
The second half of the week will be dominated by the wind, starting on Thursday. With partly cloudy sky we’ll have a south wind of 15-30 mph, and that will increase our temperatures. We expect the mid 40s East River, while the central and west really warm up. Rapid City should see the 60s.
With an area of low pressure passing through the area on Friday we will have considerable cloud cover and our only mention of precipitation. Even that will be in the form of light rain showers. Friday will also be breezy, and we’ll warm to the upper 40s to low 50s.
Skies should clear out for the weekend, and temperatures will be near-normal. With a breezy northwest wind on Saturday, highs will be in the upper 30s in the north to the 40s in the south. Sunday will be mostly sunny and a few degrees warmer, in the upper 40s East River to the low 50s in the west.
Temperatures will bounce around next week. Monday should be partly cloudy and warmer than normal, in the upper 40s to low 50s. With a cooler air mass dropping down from the north, Tuesday should be sunny and cooler, in the upper 30s in the north and 40s in the south. It appears that will be the coolest day of the week, with temperatures warming after that. At this time we should expect that temps will be above normal for both Thanksgiving and Black Friday into the start of the following weekend.
