A deck of mid to upper level clouds is sweeping down across KELOLAND from the northwest. With a gentle westerly wind (under 15 mph), temperatures are below-normal, in the upper teens to 20s East River. Temps have reached into the low 30s in Rapid City and the western edge of South Dakota.
Tonight we will have a continued light NW breeze with the continued cloud cover. A few snow flurries may get squeezed out of those clouds, though no accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will be in the upper teens to mid 30s. Rapid City will be windy and a little warmer.
Tomorrow we may see a few snow showers in the morning in Sioux Falls and SE KELOLAND. Otherwise it will be a mostly cloudy day with a NW wind 10-20 mph. Temperatures will be near-normal, in the low to mid 30s East River. Western South Dakota will be windier and much warmer: Rapid City will have a NW wind 20-35 mph with highs in the upper 40s.
We may see a few light snow showers Friday morning in Sioux Falls, but the rest of the weekend is looking snow-free, with warmer air streaming into the region, with partly to mostly sunny skies.
Skies should be partly cloudy on Saturday. Cool air will move in from the NE, so highs in Sioux Falls and eastern KELOLAND will only be in the low 30s, While Rapid City will be much warmer, in the low 50s thanks to an approaching warm front.
Sunday will be sharply warmer across KELOLAND, with possibly breezy conditions accompanying the warm air. We’re thinking skies will be clear to partly cloudy, with mid 40s East River melting the remaining snow. Western South Dakota wills urge into the upper 50s.
Monday will be breezy and slightly cooler, though temperatures will still be above-normal. We’re looking for the upper 30s to mid 40s, with a chance of some light snow East River, and possibly some light rain in the west.
We’ll have lingering chance of light snow East River on Tuesday, while skies turn sunny in the west. Tuesday will be another mild day, with highs in the low 40s East River to the mid 50s in the west. We expect to cool back to the 30s Wednesday and Thursday and maybe Friday as another cold front drops down from the north.
