Skies have been mostly sunny in western KELOLAND, and mostly cloudy in the east. We’ve had some occasional bursts of heavy rainfall.
Since midnight, Watertown has received 1.84” of rain… and there was additional rainfall last night before midnight. Aberdeen has had .63”… for a total of over an inch in the past 24 hours.
Tonight we’ll see the skies clear out – though rain showers may continue in SW MN and NW IA. It will be a relatively cool night, with lows in the low 50s.
Tomorrow will be a sunny day across KELOLAND, with near-normal highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Whatever breezes we have will be light.
Wednesday will be sunny again East River, with highs in the lower 80s thanks to a southerly breeze. Western South Dakota will also be in the low to mid 80s, thought here is the possibility of some spotty showers or thundershowers.
The area of I-90 to the south – including Sioux Falls – could get some early morning rainfall on Thursday. Skies will be mostly sunny most of the day, especially in the northern part of the area. With a warm air mass starting to approach, highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Rapid City could reach the mid 90s.
Very warm air will come in for the weekend, starting on Friday. With partly cloudy skies, Friday will be hot, in the low 90s in central and eastern KELOLAND.
The Father’s Day weekend looks warm – and in some places – wet. Saturday’s high s will be in the low 90s, and that could lead to some thunderstorms Saturday afternoon evening in western and northern South Dakota. The chances for thunder in Sioux Falls and SE KELOLAND look fairly minimal. On Sunday, we’ll have a chance of rain across the region. We could see some areas of heavy rainfall, with early projections putting the heaviest rain in northern and western South Dakota.
High pressure will bring some clearing East River on Monday, while another round of rain will be possible in the west. Monday’s highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Forecast models currently indicate gradual warming a little above-normal for the rest of next week.
