I know parts of KELOLAND had light snow this past October, but with a time gap of almost two months…it will seem like the first snow of the season.
Things are still on track to get snow late this afternoon and evening in western KELOLAND. This snow will track east through the overnight and into Friday. The best location for the heaviest snow will be between Interstate 90 and Highway 14 where a general area of 2-3” will be likely. Some models are trying to spit out higher totals right over Pierre, so isolated amounts of more than three inches will be possible from Pierre to just east of Pierre. Winds will not be a problem with the snow, as speeds will average five to ten miles per hour from the east. The Hills of western KELOLAND will also get 2-3".
This will be the first time some areas have received two inches or more of snow since February of last year.
