According to the state's Department of Transportation, roads in the Black Hills have scattered ice from Lawrence County south to the Nebraska border. Roads near Spearfish are covered in snow from morning storms.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol wrote on Twitter that Interstate 90 was blocked between Rapid City and Wall just before 10 a.m. Monday because of hazardous conditions:
As freezing rain falls across northeastern South Dakota, drivers should reduce speeds on major roads such as U.S. Highway 12 west of Aberdeen to the Missouri River. All major roads around Mobridge have either scattered ice or snow.
A wintry mix of rain and snow will reach Sioux Falls by Monday afternoon before the evening commute. About 1 to 2 inches of snow are in the forecast tonight.
